If your native language is not English, you must submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) by the application deadline.
The ACC code for submitting TOEFL scores is 6759. There is no institutional code for the IELTS examination. Test takers should provide the following address to have their official score sent to ACC:

Minimum Scores
A TOEFL iBT overall score of 79; Updated 1-6 score scale: overall and average section score 4.0 or higher.
Academic IELTS overall band score of 6.5 required for admissions with the F-1 student types.
ACC does not accept the Duolingo or other English Proficiency exam scores.

Other Visa Types
Applicants with A, E, G, H, I, K, L, O, R, TD, TN, U, or V visa types are not required to take the TOEFL or IELTS test.
Exemptions
You may be exempt from the English proficiency assessment if:
- F-1 international student seeking to co-enroll at ACC while attending another university.
- Attended a U.S. high school and have placed at college level on the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) assessment test.
- Test Scores:
- SAT (minimum 500 Evidence based Reading/Writing Score)
- ACT (minimum English score required to show proof of English Proficiency is 21)
- Or other approved assessment exam with the minimum score needed for TSI Assessment exemption. Due to immigration regulations, F-1 students must discuss this exemption with the International Student Office.
- Graduated from an accredited U.S. college or university with an associate degree or higher.
- Transfer from an accredited U.S. college or university with a grade “C” or higher in a course equivalent to ACC’s ENGL-1301.
You are exempt from the English proficiency assessment if your home country is one of the following countries whose native language is English:
