An F-1 student who is currently maintaining status and making normal progress toward completing their educational objective but who has changed their academic major, must submit an I-20 Change of Major form to receive their Form I-20 with the updated major. Students may not choose a degree plan in which the major coursework is exclusively online (Marketing, International Business, Real Estate, etc). ACC F-1 visa students must submit their I-20 Change of Major form within 10 days of changing their major.
For a change of major, submit the following documents to the International Student Office:
- I-20 Change of Major form (must be completed with an Area of Study advisor)
- Degree audit and completion estimate (created by an Area of Study advisor)
You may submit I-20 Change of Major requests to the International Student Office at [email protected]; however, the office may ask you to submit the form in person. Documents must be clean, clear, and legible. Office staff will review requests and notify you via email upon completion. Allow five business days for processing an updated I-20.
Second Major Request
If the courses in your declared major are primarily online, you may have to add a second major to your I-20 in order to meet the 75% (9 of 12 credit hours) face-to-face/hybrid hour requirement.
To request a second major, submit the following documents to the International Student Office:
- I-20 Second Major Request form (must be completed with an Area of Study advisor)
- Degree audit and completion estimate (created by an Area of Study advisor)
You may submit I-20 Second Major requests to [email protected]; however, the office may ask you to submit the form in person. Documents must be clean, clear, and legible. Office staff will review the request and notify you via email upon completion. Allow five business days for processing an updated I-20.
